Locked in Agony

Inspired by an accidental injury that hyperextended my elbow and tore a tendon in my forearm. The intense pain and limited mobility that followed prevented my ability to work at full capacity. The elbow joint is steel, and the outer arm is glass because I exist within such a fragile body, and it does not suit my mind and spirit. Red is the color of pain and inflammation. The chain wrapped around the joint is locked up, restricting its mobility. Nails are driven through the chain links, locking it further, with stabbing pain and constant aching. The transparent glass vessel replaces opaque skin and flesh that hides pain in order to make it visible to the outside. “Locked in Agony” is a reminder that when I push myself too hard, my body will speak to me through pain.
